Since 1958, the Bethany Memorial Scholarship Fund has been carrying out
its established purpose of extending financial assistance, in the form of
non-interest bearing loans, to deserving young men and women of Bethany
who wish to continue their education beyond the high school level. Gifts
to this fund are tax deductible. A financial contribution made to the fund
in memory of any person or corporation, is so acknowledged and recorded.
With education costs for college and technical schools rising steadily,
new donations are absolutely essential and are sought most earnestly by
the trustees of the fund.
Approximately 90 non-interest bearing loans have been made as of 2002, 58 of which have been repaid in full. While requests for financial aid may be made at any time to a member of the Board of Trustees, the most favorable time for submitting applications is the month of May. Most applications are screened in July, and awards are made some weeks later. All loans are mailed directly to the school of the applicant’s choice.
